Site work for a water / sewer project in Shelton, Washington. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.
Mason Conservation District (MCD) is requesting bids from qualified parties to harvest, haul, and construct 12 pile supported habitat enhancing engineered log jams (ELJs), one large wood bank roughness cluster, and two side channels in the upper South Fork of the Skokomish River in Mason County. Most of the ELJ structures are to be constructed within the active river channel and will need to be isolated from flowing water in order to construct. All ELJ construction and side channel excavation will take place on U.S. Forest Service land located in Township 23N, Range 6W, Section 27. A total of 1,044 logs (consisting of 234 timber piles, 100 log poles, and 710 logs with root wads still attached) and 5,850 cubic yards of slash are required to construct the ELJs. Approximately 3,000 cubic yards of material will need to be excavated to construct two flood plain side channels; one channel being approximately 900 feet long and the other is approximately 250 feet long. Material excavated shall remain on site and be used as backfill for ELJs and/or appropriately spread within the project reach. From there, those in attendance will drive up to the 2361-400 line where it is currently blocked and walk the rest of the way in to the project site.
