Description

Demolition, site work and new construction of a water / sewer project in Santa Cruz, California. Conceptual plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.

The scope of work includes replacing the existing PG&E 21kV electric service; replacing 21kV main switchgear, cables, and substations; completing a 21kV loop to provide redundant power distribution around the plant; replacing the existing 480V and 2.4kV switchgear (with conversion of the 2.4kV system to 480V); converting specific motors from 2.4kV to 480V; adding VFDs for designated pumps and blowers and integrating these into the plant PLC/SCADA system; providing new diesel standby generators for plant-wide backup; networking and integrating new switchgear power meters and protective relays for SCADA monitoring; demolishing the existing Maintenance Building and constructing a new Main Electrical Building; demolishing existing switchgear, transformers, generators, and associated cabling; and sequencing the work to provide temporary power and controls, ensuring uninterrupted operation of the wastewater treatment facility throughout construction phases. Instructions to bidders reference a collaborative design-build process and continuous operation requirements for the plant's treatment processes during all project phases.
