The Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) of Southern Nevada has been awarded a federal grant through the PROTECT program to develop Southern Nevada's first Transportation Resilience Improvement Plan. This initiative addresses the critical need to improve climate resilience in a county that ranks at the 11.27 percentile in its ability to prepare for natural hazards while simultaneously ranking at the 85.65 percentile in residents' susceptibility to adverse impacts from natural hazards. This 12-20 month consulting project will develop a comprehensive Transportation Resilience Improvement Plan consisting of two primary deliverables: 1. Transportation Resilience Improvement Investment Plan - A strategic framework with 1-year, 5-year, and 10-20 year implementation phases, including prioritized projects, cost estimates, and funding strategies 2. Extreme Heat Response Plan - A coordinated regional response strategy for transportation systems during extreme heat and power outage events The project encompasses ten major tasks: project management, context review and objectives articulation, community engagement, data collection and preparation, vulnerability assessment, adaptation options analysis, investment planning, heat response planning, final product development, and project closeout.
