The Project consists of Furnishing materials and the replacement of approximately 130LF 8-inch ductile iron sanitary sewer pipe in municipal roadway and associated restoration. Bid security shall be furnished in accordance with the Instructions to Bidders. PA Wage Rates Apply, and Performance and Payment Security equal to 100% of the contract amount is required. The Bern Township Municipal Authority, Owner, hereby reserves the right, which is understood and agreed to by all bidders, to refuse and reject any or all bids submitted, or portions thereof, and also reserves the right to waive any informality in bids received. Question Deadline 12/05/2025 All questions about the meaning or intent of the Bidding Documents are to be submitted to Engineer in writing. Questions received less than seven days prior to the date for opening of Bids may not be answered Base Bid work described as follows: Contractor shall replace existing sagging 8-inch PVC sanitary sewer with 8-inch Class 52 Ductile Iron Pipe. Pipe bedding with AASHTO 57 stone and backfill with acceptable well compacted select backfill or 2A stone as required. Restore trenches as required. Contractor shall furnish and install 4" perforated underdrain piping from trench to side of Stinson Drive in locations shown on drawings and in accordance with backfill requirements Work on the project includes construction of new sewer mains, trench repaving, and roadway overlay generally described as follows. All excavation performed for the work shall be UNCLASSIFIED. a) Mobilize and install E&S controls as shown on the drawings. Coordinate with Bern Township and Bern Township Municipal Authority staff on staging area, equipment and material storage. b) The CONTRACTOR shall retain a professional photographer to videotape the entire project area prior to initiating any work. A copy of the video record shall be provided to the OWNER and ENGINEER. CONTRACTOR shall also take still photographs as needed to supplement the video record. Particular attention shall be paid to landscaping, curbing, driveways, pavement conditions, and pavement markings. c) Construct sewer mains with appropriate size and class of pipe as shown on the drawings. Furnish and install bypass pumping operations as necessary - there is no separate payment for bypass pumping. Temporary, water-tight tie-ins shall be made between the new pipe and existing pipe at the conclusion of each work day. The CONTRACTOR shall be responsible to completely remove and dispose of existing sanitary sewer pipe. d) Test all new sanitary sewer mains in accordance with the specifications. Sanitary sewer testing shall include a television inspection of the completed sanitary sewer line. e) Restore all trenches as shown on the drawings. f) Restore all lawn areas disturbed during constriction. g) Install traffic markings and lines as required. h) Restore unpaved areas equal to condition prior to construction. i) Demobilize and remove stored material, equipment and detour signs.
