Renovation of a theater / auditorium in Huntsville, Alabama. Completed plans call for the renovation of a 260-seat theater / auditorium.
Reference Number 0000404861 The U.S. Space & Rocket Center Commission seeks proposals from qualified firms to furnish a sealed itemized public bid for the seating upgrades at the Planetarium Dome facility located at the Huntsville, Alabama U.S. Space and Rocket Center. The purpose of this RFQ is to obtain an itemized comprehensive bid package listing the proposed scope of work, materials, and itemized pricing for each of the two (2) bid alternates listed below. Alternate No. 1 Itemized bid for the purchase, delivery and installation of new upholstery and supporting foam to restore the auditorium seating to a like-new condition, improve visitor comfort, and ensure durability within the unique planetarium environment. This renovation project consist of 260 Erwin model# 51B.12S stadium seats. The proposed replacement materials must be of a commercial grade, durable enough to accommodate an estimated 150,000 guest annually with a life expectancy of at least 10 years from date of installation. All submitted quotes must meet the below listed material minimum specifications or its equivalent. Quote must provide various standard fabric grades and types, including woven fabrics and outdoor/vinyl options. Specific Fabris to include CMI / Illusion / black fabric and Momentum / Gauge / Cardinal fabric. Samples of the upholstery or seating material being proposed Samples of the foam cushioning being proposed Material performance, specifications, and industries testing standard documentation. Samples of all upholstery color options being proposed Details on the warranty offered for both materials and labor. Lead times and proposed timeline for completion of the work. Desirable colors would be a Deep Blue, Charcoal Grey, or Indigo Description of services to include: Removal of existing upholstery and foam from seating units Replacement specifications and process with new materials Re-installation of all newly upholstered seats Disposal of old materials Provide companies last 5 years' experience in commercial or institutional auditorium/theater seating upholstery Provide references for similar past projects Alternate No. 2 Itemized bid for the purchase, delivery and installation of 260 new updated seating units that can accommodate an estimated 150,000 guest annually. Seat Backs must meet or exceed the following specifications. 2" thick back poly Nominal back height of 36" One piece injection molded, high impact polyethylene rear panel One piece injection molded, high impact polyethylene rear panel 5-ply, 7/16" plywood designed for proper ergonomics inner upholstery panels Seat Bottoms must meet or exceed the following specifications. Serpentine spring support component or with an ergonomic substrate and formed poly cushion Injection molded, glass-filled polypropylene foundation Capable of passing the 600 lb. static load test and surpasses 300,000 cycles without failure in the ASTM-851-87 Test Method for Self-Rising Seat Mechanisms Covers utilizes drawstring construction for an unwrinkled appearance and ease of replacement Cam-driven seat hinge mechanism for consistent, maintenance-free operation Covered seat pivot Fabric and Colors: Desirable colors would be something in a Deep Blue, Charcoal Grey, or Indigo.
