The Village of Maryville requests proposals from qualified drilling contractors and geotechnical engineers to perform exploratory drilling to locate potential underground mine voids beneath/near the proposed Public Safety Building site. If voids or highly disrupted strata are encountered, the Contractor shall install and leave in place steel casing across those intervals to render the holes grout-ready for a future, separate grouting contract. Scope of Services (Base) Pre-Field Tasks Desktop review of ISGS/IDNR mine maps and nearby logs to estimate coal seam depth and panel trends; propose final hole depths accordingly. Utility coordination (JULIE + private locates). Stake and survey proposed hole locations; provide coordinates. Exploratory Drilling & Logging Number/Pattern: [15] deep reconnaissance borings (M-1...M-15) within Attachment A, aligned generally perpendicular to the mapped room-and-pillar trend. The Village may adjust quantity +-2 based on unit prices. Methods: Advance cased hole through overburden; continuous core (ASTM D2113) through the expected coal horizon and >= 50 ft below. Record loss of circulation, voids, soft zones, gas/water kicks, and breaks. Downhole Verification: If conditions permit, provide downhole camera logging across suspect intervals (add-alt). Water/Drill Returns: Manage spoils and returns onsite per Village direction. Prevailing Wage applies. FOIA Notice: Proposals may be subject to disclosure.
