Site work, paving and new construction of a civil project in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Completed plans call for the construction of a one-story above grade bridge / tunnel; and one-story above grade road / highway.

The project includes but is not limited to new construction of approximately 2000 linear feet of roadway improvements and associated infrastructure along Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard / Jack Warner Parkway, as well as two new overpass bridges for the CPKC Warrior Main and Goodrich Spur railroads over Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard / Jack Warner Parkway. The two new overpass bridges will be for the CPKC Warrior Main and Goodrich Spur railroads. A portion of the existing timber Warrior Main bridge will be replaced with two through plate girder spans, 112’ and 62’. The new superstructure will be supported by a concrete abutment and two concrete bents on drilled shafts. The new Goodrich Spur bridge will consist of four new spans supported by steel girders (2 at 65’, 1 at 42’, and 1 at 35.5’). The superstructure will be supported by two concrete abutments and three concrete bents on drilled shafts. Additional qualifications and requirements for General Contractor Bidders, Joint Venture Bidders, and Subcontractors are indicated in the Bid Package and Contract Documents. Bids will only be accepted from a General Contractor as a Prime bidder with a successfully prequalified Railroad Bridge Construction contractor as a subcontractor identified by name inside the sealed bid to perform the Railroad Bridge Construction work; or a General Contractor as a Prime bidder who is also a successfully prequalified Railroad Bridge Construction contractor; or a Joint Venture who identifies a successfully prequalified Railroad Bridge Construction contractor by name as either a member of the Joint Venture or as a subcontractor identified by name inside the sealed bid to perform the Railroad Bridge Construction work. Prequalification packets will identify the information that must be submitted by contractors for qualification determination. Only General Contractors properly licensed in accordance with criteria established by the State Licensing Board for General Contractors will be considered for the work of this project. Pre-bid conference attendance is required for General Contractors or Joint Ventures to submit a bid. Pre-qualification requirements: Prequalification of any contractor that will be performing railroad bridge work is required. Prequalification is intended to identify responsible and competent contractors with recent and relevant experience performing railroad bridge construction project work of a similar type and scale. Contractors must submit prequalification information as specified and only contract teams including a prequalified bridge contractor will be considered. Additional qualifications and requirements for General Contractor Bidders, Joint Venture Bidders, and Subcontractors are indicated in the Bid Package and Contract Documents. Only General Contractors properly licensed in accordance with the State Licensing Board for General Contractors will be considered.
