Asbestos abatement and renovation of an educational facility in Dekalb, Illinois. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility; and for asbestos abatement for a educational facility.

The work is a Base Bid - Phase 1 - 2026 to remove flooring in three contained areas May 26, 2026 - July 2, 2026 and an Alternate Bid Phase 2 - 2027 that adds to the Base Bid removal of flooring in one contained area June 1, 2027 - June 16, 2027. PROJECT INFORMATION THE WORK OF THE PROJECT: Base Bid: Phase 1 - 2026 - Containment A Remove floor tile and associated mastic (approximately 7,715 square feet), carpet and associated mastic (approximately 4,390 square feet), and stair treads and associated mastic (approximately 40 square feet) from the southern portion of the commons, band room area, and the southeast corridors utilizing gross removal methods. Phase 1 - 2026 - Containment B Remove floor tile and associated mastic (approximately 8,760 square feet) from the northern portion of the commons and the northeast portion of the building utilizing gross removal methods. Phase 1 - 2026 - Containment C Remove floor tile and associated mastic (approximately 7,915 square feet) from the southern and western corridors utilizing gross removal methods Alternate Bid: Phase 2 - 2027 Add to the Base Bid the removal of floor tile and associated mastic (approximately 6,345 square feet) from the second floor corridors utilizing gross removal methods EXISTING CONDITIONS: Demolition activities are not necessary to make materials that are scheduled for removal accessible. Disruption of the existing systems must be scheduled and coordinated with the Owner. The Owner will continue to utilize portions of the building during completion of Contract Work. Engineer and Contractor shall not be responsible for weather intrusion, vandalism, injury, or any other issues caused due to the absence of materials being removed. Contractor shall not be held responsible for pre-existing damage to the substrate material(s) under the flooring scheduled for removal as the condition of the material is not known. There may be cracks, gouges and/or pits present. Contractor shall be responsible for damage to the substrate material(s) determined by the Engineer to have been caused by the Contractor. Contractor shall only perform activities necessary for asbestos removal and associated disposal, as specified in this Project Manual. No scrapping, recycling, removal of building components or furnishings will be permitted. No inquiries or exceptions will be allowed. Contractor shall be responsible for all costs associated with any unauthorized activity.
