The City of Shaker Heights Police and Court Building was built in 1972 and is 24 hour 7 days a week facility for the Police. The Police Department has an active basement level jail system that is only utilized as a holding area for inmates before they are transported to our designated county facility. The jail sound/intercom system is outdated and needs replaced. This project's main goal is to replace the existing intercom systems with a new intercom system. The facility will remain operational during construction. It is imperative that good communication and planning be provided during this project. The project entails replacing the existing intercom system with a three (3) channel Master Station and Power Supply and replace the jail cell station intercoms (15). Use Cat - 6 cables with new devices. The scope of work consists of the replacement of the jail intercom system. The project will require coordination between the Contractor and the Public Works Department representative to ensure that there are no unplanned disturbances to Police operations. The work shall include all tools, labor, materials, equipment, transportation, supervision, disposal and expertise required to perform the work. The scope shall include any other items not specifically listed that are required to provide a complete renovation as described herein. The Contractor is responsible for notifying the city of any discrepancies in the scope of work and that which is required for a complete and finished project. PROPERTY DAMAGE Contractor shall be responsible for repair of any damage to City property and restoration of any area disturbed by construction to the satisfaction of the Director of Public Works prior to final payment. Any repair/restoration of damaged area shall be performed at no cost to the City. BONDS/WARRANTY The contractor shall furnish to the city a two-year labor and material warranty, to commence upon the date of the city's final acceptance of the project. BILLING: The Contractor shall receive and accept compensation provided for in the contract as full payment for furnishing all materials and equipment for performing all work under the contract in a complete and acceptable manner and for all risk, loss, damage or expense of whatever character arising out of the nature of the work or the prosecution thereof. HE WORK IN GENERAL CONSISTS OF THE FOLLOWING o Developing and submitting a construction schedule that is acceptable to the city. o The procurement of all equipment, parts and materials needed to complete this project. o This is not Prevailing Wage project. o NO abatement work is part of this project. If any abatement issues arise, they will be addressed separately by the City's contracted abatement Contractor at the City's expense. o Repair of any damage caused by construction operations or activities at no expense to the city. o Any debris and all work areas are to be cleaned up regularly throughout the word day. o The awarded contractor and all sub-trades must register as contractors with the City of Shaker Heights. The fees for registration will be waived for this project. o The awarded contractor must submit to and pass employee federal background checks. o All work must be performed so that it does not disturb City operations.
