Renovation of an educational facility in Coleman, Michigan. Completed plans call for the renovation of a one-story above grade educational facility.

Sealed bids will be accepted from qualified contractors for the Coleman Jr./Sr. High School 2026 Asbestos Abatement project. Bidders may attend a non-mandatory site inspection meeting to become familiar with site conditions and secure necessary measurements. Specifications are available online or can be purchased in print. Each bid must be accompanied by a bid security in the amount of five percent (5%) of the base bid amount, which may be in the form of a bid bond, cashier's check, or money order. Bids must also include a sworn and notarized statement disclosing any familial relationship with the school board or administration, and a sworn and notarized affidavit of compliance with the Iran Economic Sanctions Act. All bids that do not include these documents will not be accepted. Coleman Community Schools reserves the right to reject any or all bids. Coleman Community Schools intends to renovate a portion of the Jr./Sr. High School at the beginning of June 2026. It has been determined that this work would otherwise impact asbestos containing materials and abatement is required. These Project Specifications are intended to provide interested bidders information necessary to submit a bid for the WORK. The WORK shall be completed by a State of Michigan licensed asbestos abatement contractor with only accredited abatement workers and abatement supervisors completing the work in accordance with the Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA) requirements. The scope of work includes removal of asbestos containing flooring, caulks, fume hoods, sinks, doors, pipe insulation and to complete any repairs or repainting of damages caused by pealed paint related to the use of adhesives. The project is expected to begin June 1, 2026 and be completed, with passing TEM clearances) no later than June 5, 2026. Due to the aggressive schedule, the Owner is requesting the Abatement Contractor work two shifts each day until the work is complete. In the event that the documents require interpretation or correction of any inconsistency, ambiguity, or error, the BIDDER shall notify the ENVIRONMENTAL CONSULTANT in writing at least (7) days prior to the bid due date for clarification by written addenda.
