Inspect the existing roof structure and determine whether removal of the current roofing system is necessary. If the existing roof deck and materials are structurally sound and dry, the new truss and roof system may be installed over the existing flat roof to serve as an additional protective layer. If areas of rot, water damage, or structural weakness are discovered, those sections shall be removed and replaced prior to installing the new truss system. Contractor shall properly dispose of any removed materials and debris in accordance with all local and environmental regulations. Design and install a new wood or light-gauge steel truss system engineered to meet current South Carolina Building Code snow, wind, and seismic load requirements. Provide manufacturer-engineered truss design drawings and load calculations certified by a South Carolina licensed Professional Engineer prior to installation. If a custom truss system or structural modification is proposed, the contractor must provide fully stamped structural drawings prepared by a South Carolina licensed Professional Engineer prior to construction. The Town of Ware Shoals is soliciting proposals from qualified, licensed contractors and/or design-build firms to remove the existing flat roof system at the Wastewater Treatment Plant Office Facility and replace it with a new pitched truss roof structure with a metal roofing system. This project aims to eliminate ongoing maintenance and drainage issues associated with the flat roof and to provide a durable, long-life roof system suitable for municipal use.
