The proposed public improvement generally consists of full reconstruction, new sidewalk and ADA compliant curb ramps, water main, storm sewer, sanitary sewer repairs, combined sidewalk retaining walls, mid-block RRFB crossing, and traffic signal improvements located at 42nd Street NE from Pine View Drive to Wenig Road. Bids shall be on a Unit Price basis. The latest editions of the Iowa Statewide Urban Design and Specifications (SUDAS), and City of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, General Supplemental Specifications to SUDAS, are applicable to this project. Each bidder must provide bid security as required by law and will be required to furnish a corporate surety bond for faithful performance. Bidders are required to follow drug-free workplace policies and applicable laws and regulations, with preferences given according to state rules. The City Council reserves the right to reject any and all bids or to waive informalities and technicalities as it deems in the best interest of the City. No sales or use taxes should be included in the bid. All contractors and subcontractors are responsible for pre-employment drug screening and must submit an acknowledgment of compliance with this practice. Minority business enterprises are encouraged to submit bids and will not be discriminated against on the basis of race, color, or national origin. Preference will be given to Iowa-grown products and domestic labor as provided by Iowa law. Bids are to be completed and submitted electronically by the specified deadline for consideration. The bid must contain no conditions except as provided in the specifications.
