The work shall consist of furnishing and installation of water lines, fittings, valves, etc. as more fully described in the bidding documents. Each bid must be accompanied by a certified check, cashier's check, or bid bond payable to the Lafayette Parish Waterworks District North in the amount of five percent (5%) of the base bid plus additive alternates. The bid bond must meet specific requirements regarding the issuing company and its licensing. The selected bidder must provide and maintain performance and payment bonds, each for not less than 100% of the contract price, to assure faithful performance and payment to suppliers and laborers. Each bid must be submitted only on the form provided with the specifications. Only bids from contractors licensed under Louisiana's Contractors Licensing Law for bids exceeding $50,000.00 will be considered. Contractors must have the proper classification (Municipal and Public Works Construction required) and show their license number on the front of the sealed envelope. Bids not in accordance with this requirement will be rejected. There will be a mandatory pre-bid meeting. Any bid from a contractor not represented at this meeting will not be opened. The Lafayette Parish Waterworks District North reserves the right to reject any and all bids or any portions thereof, to waive informalities, and to select the material which best suits its needs.
