The City of Fernandina Beach, Florida is accepting competitive sealed bids for AREA 6 DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENTS in the downtown area. Submittals must be uploaded to Demandstar.com E-bidding System prior to the specified deadline. Attendance at a Mandatory Pre-bid meeting is required for consideration. Submittals from firms not represented at the Mandatory Pre-bid meeting will not be considered. Bidders are instructed to register with DemandStar and submit all responses through the DemandStar website. Only bid packets obtained through DemandStar are considered complete and reliable. Vendors are responsible for ensuring all information is complete if obtained from other sources. A detailed analysis and modeling of the existing and proposed drainage system have resulted in the current engineering design for the project, which includes replacement of existing drainage structures and installation of new parallel stormwater lines to increase system capacity. This design change from the original scope that identified replacing existing stormwater lines with larger pipes to increase capacity resulted to minimize conflicts with other utilities in the project area. The design includes the installation of a stormwater pump station rather than upgrades to the gravity outfall that was contemplated in the original scope. This pump station allows for increased capacity and performance of the system without the significant increase in pipe size that was originally planned. The details of the project have changed, while the overall goal of increased stormwater capacity and reduced flooding will be achieved.
