The project involves replacing existing old fiber optic infrastructure with newer fiber technology to enhance communications between several buildings within the Fire Department Headquarters campus. The vendor is responsible for installing approximately 5,500 feet of single mode fiber optic cabling (exact measurement to be verified by vendor) and connecting multiple buildings back to new Cisco core switches in the main building. The project must align with ITD standards, and all communications are to be tested using qualified optical fiber cabling testers. The vendor is required to provide Miami-Dade County with fiber optic cabling infrastructure design and drawings for review and approval. All hardware, accessories, materials, labor, and surge/lightning protection, as well as sealing all conduit openings, must be provided. Terminations, 24-port fiber patch panels, and new patch cords (CAT6) must be installed in each location with all old patch cords replaced. Upon completion and approval, as-built sealed drawings and permit information are required in a binder and flash drive. Itemized quotes of all materials and labor are required for consideration. A low voltage permit is mandatory, and the vendor must provide all relevant documentation and request clarifications in writing if needed.
