Site work, paving and new construction of a mixed-use development in Lacey, Washington. Completed plans call for the construction of a 45,000-square-foot educational facility; for site work for a educational facility; and for paving for a educational facility.

https://www.theolympian.com/news/local/article314831303.html North Thurston Public Schools reached a milestone on Tuesday after the school board voted unanimously to award a $40 million construction contract for an early learning destination called the Lacey Education and Family Center, or LEAF. The general contractor is Forma Construction of Olympia. The work is set to begin in late March on a site north of Nisqually Middle School alongside Marvin Road Southeast. The targeted opening date is the fall of 2027, Superintendent Troy Oliver said after Tuesday’s meeting. He reflected on the moment and the planning that has gone into creating LEAF. North Thurston is the largest school district in the county with roughly 15,000 students. “This goes back to a community conversation we had in 2018 where we identified that half the kids in our community were coming into kindergarten without any sort of formal preschool experience, whether at a home daycare, a formal commercial preschool, or one of our preschool programs,” he said. “So we’ve been working really hard since 2018 to close that gap.” --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The project consists of a new 45,000 SF early learning center. The project will include early learning classrooms with attached outdoor backyard play areas, gross motor skill indoor play areas, administrative offices, a kitchen, a library in partnership with Timberland Regional Libraries, shared public playground, associated parking facilities and drives, utilities, and ROW and frontage street improvements. Stage 1 Bidding includes all scopes of work. NTP for construction activity to begin at the jobsite is approximately March 16, 2026. Phasing / Schedule - NTP = March 16th, 2026 Scheduled Substantial Completion = July 30th, 2027 Liquidated Damages are $1,500/day after Substantial Completion and $500/day after Final Completion. A Performance and Payment Bond will be required on all bid amounts over $300,000. Note that a Performance and Payment Bond for 100% of the bid amount will be required, at subcontractor's/suppliers' expense if a contract is awarded. Include this cost in your base bid amount at the time of bid submission. A Bid Bond/cashier's check is required in the amount of 5% of the bid amount on bids $300,000 and over.
