Site work and new construction of an educational facility in East Greenwich, Rhode Island. Conceptual plans call for the construction of a 53,000-square-foot educational facility.
New England Institute of Technology (NEIT) announced plans for a $40 million Innovation Center for Building Sciences on its East Greenwich campus. The project will fund a 53,000-square-foot facility focused on hands-on learning in building trades and related technology fields. The centre will support degree pathways in construction, electrical technology, plumbing, architectural building engineering, interior design, and construction management at associate, bachelor’s, and master’s levels. Designed to mirror real-world job sites, the facility will include modern labs and industry equipment to prepare students for careers in high-demand skilled trades. Groundbreaking is expected in Spring 2026, with completion targeted by late 2027. Once completed, the centre will increase NEIT’s skilled trades training capacity, potentially serving about 1,000 students annually from across the country. Former Rhode Island Foundation CEO Neil Steinberg will serve as a philanthropic advisor to support fundraising and scholarship development for the project.
