Scope of Work 2.1 Partial site plan showing the area for the playground is located in the attachment section. 2.2 All structures shall meet the most recent ADA, ASTM, and CPSC requirements and specifications for playground equipment. 2.3 Contractor shall provide one (1) play structure that is a 5-12 year old structure and one (1) play structure that is a 2-5 year old structure. 2.4 This playground shall contain as many Universally Accessible features as practical. 2.5 Contractor shall provide a ramp as the main access to the play structure as well as ramps between platforms as needed. An accessible transfer point may be a secondary access. Accessible transfer points are not considered a play event and will not be counted in the event total, neither will accessible ramps. 2.6 All posts for the 2-5 year old structure and the 5-12 year old structure shall be a minimum of 5" diameter o.d. pipe or an approved equal. Equivalents shall be submitted in writing prior to the question deadline to be included with the addendum. 2.7 All posts shall have a powder coat finish after welding is completed. Steel posts shall be galvanized prior to powder coating. 2.8 Contractor shall specify the type of post to be used (steel or aluminum) and list the gauges of all posts and decking to be used on the structures. Background - The City of Cedar Rapids is seeking bids from qualified Contractors for the purchase and installation of playground equipment in Cedar Valley Park, 2250 Blakely Blvd SE, Cedar Rapids for the Parks and Recreation Department. Cedar Valley Park is located on the Southeast side of Cedar Rapids. The park is what has been historically called the 'Rompot Area' of Cedar Rapids. The park is near the Prairie Park Fishery and currently has an aging playground, splashpad, basketball court, shelter and restroom. The existing playground at the park is approximately 25 years old and has reached the point where it needs to be replaced. The existing playground structure shall be removed and replaced with new playground equipment that includes a 2-5 year old structure, a 5-12 year old structure, swings, and additional stand alone equipment.
