The City of Conroe seeks proposals from qualified vendors for the design and installation of playground equipment and safety surfacing at the Oscar Johnson, Jr. Enrichment and Recreation Center. The project area is approximately 45' x 90'. The playground design must be IPEMA Certified, suitable for ages 5-12, and include a shaded, multi-feature composite climbing structure with eight to ten elevated play components, as well as inclusive ground-level play features as required by the United States Access Board Chapter 10 Play Areas. All equipment must meet the most current ASTM 1487 standard for entrapment, entanglement, and protrusion hazards. The project includes installation of approximately 4,050 square feet of geotextile fabric underlayment, approximately 150 cubic yards of IPEMA Certified Engineered Wood Fiber (EWF) as shock-absorbing material meeting multiple ASTM standards, and a commercial plastic timber border for EWF containment with an accessible ramp. Vendors are responsible for visiting the site prior to bidding, managing any rutting caused by their equipment, providing all design, labor, equipment, materials, and supplies for a complete turnkey project, and coordinating with the City of Conroe Parks and Recreation Department. On completion, all construction debris and surplus materials must be removed, and the site left in an acceptable condition. Smoking, vaping, and smokeless tobacco are prohibited onsite. The proposal must include all costs for design, labor, equipment, materials, supplies, and installation. No alternate proposals will be considered unless specifically requested. Vendor is responsible for obtaining all necessary permits and approvals. Bids must be submitted electronically, include required insurance, and meet all terms, conditions, and applicable laws and standards for eligibility and performance.
