Contractor agrees to provide to the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) all labor, equipment, materials, parts, tools, supplies, travel, and incidentals necessary to provide concrete replacement services This solicitation is authorized pursuant to Government Code Section 14838.7, which provides for the award of contracts for the acquisition of construction, including the erection, construction, alteration, repair, or improvement of any State structure, building, road, or other State improvement of any kind, that has an estimated value of greater than $5,000.00, but not more than $461,000.00, to a certified SB, including a micro business (MB), SB for the purpose of public works (SB-PW), or a disabled veteran business enterprise (DVBE). A bid over $461,000.00 will result in rejection of your bid due to non-responsiveness." *The value for this project is based on a financial range. The value is listed as the highest possible cost from the range provided by a stakeholder or official project document. This contract requires Prevailing Wages if the total bid amount exceeds $15,000. If the total bid amount is under $15,000, then Prevailing Wage language will be removed prior to award. Bidder shall possess at the time of price quote submittal and for the duration of the Agreement, a valid, and current C-8 (Concrete Contractor) license issued by Contractors State License Board (CSLB), for the type of work to be performed. Question Deadline 01/23/2026 Written questions must include the individual's name, firm name, complete address, and must reference IFPQ No. 08A3955. Questions must be sent to the following email: Email: Jean.Mallare@dot.ca.gov. Questions regarding this IFPQ must be submitted in writing. If the successful bidder's bid exceeds $25,000, the successful bidder shall furnish a Payment Bond for not less than 100 percent (100%) of the total amount payable by the terms of this Agreement. The Payment Bond is due prior to the start date of work. A. Contractor shall remove and replace damaged courtyard walkways and slab sections identified as lifted, cracked, or displaced by tree roots. B. Contractor shall remove decorative rocks and place them in the dirt area of landscaping. C. Demolition and Removal 1. Contractor shall saw-cut existing concrete along clean, straight lines to isolate the damaged areas. 2. Contractor shall remove lifted or cracked concrete panels and subgrade material as needed. 3. Contractor shall excavate soil to expose intrusive tree roots causing displacement. 4. Contractor shall collect and dispose of demolition debris off-site at an approved disposal facility. D. Tree Root Mitigation 1. Contractor shall expose major roots and trim only as required to prevent recurrence. 2. All root trimming to be coordinated with a certified arborist to avoid harming the health of the tree. The costs for coordinating with a certified arborist are included in the rates on Attachment 1- Price Quote Proposal. 3. Contractor shall install root barriers along slab edges adjacent to trees to redirect future root growth away from hardscape. E. Subgrade Preparation 1. Contractor shall re-compact subgrade to a minimum of 95% relative compaction. 2. Contractor shall add Class II base or approved aggregate material to required thickness. 3. Contractor shall ensure proper grading for drainage away from building. F. Substrate Repair 1. Contractor shall inspect the underlying substrate for damage or moisture issues. 2. Contractor shall repair or replace any damaged lath, sheathing, or weather barriers as needed before applying new stucco. G. Concrete Installation 1. Contractor shall form and install new concrete slab sections to match existing dimensions, alignment, and finish. 2. Contractor shall follow Caltrans Standard Specifications for reinforced concrete. Refer to Section 6 above. 3. Contractor shall include standard control joints or match existing joint spacing. 4. Contractor shall finish matching existing walkway. H. Curing and Protection 1. Contractor shall apply a curing compound as per Caltrans Standard Specifications. 2. Contractor shall provide barriers to restrict pedestrian use until concrete reaches 85% of the minimum strength as per Caltrans Standard Specifications.
