Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Anchorage, Alaska. Conceptual plans call for site work for a road / highway; for paving for a road / highway; sidewalk / parking lot; and sidewalk / parking lot.
The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities is proposing a major safety improvement project along a 20-mile stretch of the Seward Highway between Anchorage and Girdwood. The preferred design includes widening the highway to a four-lane divided configuration, flattening curves, widening shoulders, and creating more separation between northbound and southbound traffic. Additional features include a separated multi-use path, improved trailhead parking, pull-offs, and rock catchments. The project aims to reduce fatal crashes and improve traffic flow along this critical corridor. Construction will occur in stages and is expected to take up to 20 years to complete.
