For projects exceeding $25,000, contractors and subcontractors must be registered and qualified under Labor Code section 1725.5. The successful entity must furnish a Payment (Labor and Material) Bond and a Faithful Performance Bond each in the amount of 100% of the Total Sublease Amount, and is permitted to substitute securities or establish an escrow in lieu of retainage. Only contractors licensed to do business in California, holding a Class "B" license at award and maintaining it through contract completion and warranty periods, may submit proposals.
