MnDOT requests letters of interest for a Secretary of Interior qualified Historic Architect to lead a multi-disciplinary team to create design documents and assist with construction administration for multiple MnDOT Historic Roadside Property and Waysides (HRPW) projects. The HRPW program completes 3-5 state funded project each year rehabilitating historic roadside properties, which are also classified under the rest area classification system, mostly as Class IV Rest Areas with no toilet building, but which may also include portable or vault toilets. Thes properties have been evaluated by historians and have some other historic photos and plans to use as reference. The current project includes the following fiscal year 2027 projects: 1. In District 4, the Otter Tail Lake Rest Area-eligible for the National Register which is a Class II Rest Area, a trail in the Burgen Lake Class I Rest Area- eligible for the National Register. 2. In District 7, a trail in the New Ulm Spring Roadside Parking Area (RPA)- Eligible for the National Register. 3. In District 8, a project at the Morton Pioneers Monuments RPA and Birch Coulee Historic Markers. The goal of this project is to provide a multi-disciplinary team, consisting of Historic Architects, Landscape Architects, and Engineers to create complete, biddable, and constructable drawings and specifications for the HRPW projects. The successful responder will assist with Construction Admin as needed for each or the projects, assist with close out and warranty of the projects, and complete maintenance and treatment reports for each project when complete.
