PROJECT LOCATION: The project is located along E. Wulf Road / 210th Street in Walcott, Iowa. The work will include: Providing all labor, materials, tools, equipment, and incidentals to construct a new water supply well and associated raw and treated water piping, complete in place and accepted. Well work includes drilling, well completion, temporary capping to prevent entry of pollutants, construction to plumb/alignment tolerances suitable for installation/operation of permanent pumping equipment, alignment/plumb testing per AWWA A100 Section 8, performance testing to obtain water samples, water quality and testing, and determine well capacity and drawdown. Raw and treated water piping work includes furnishing and installing pipe, fittings, and appurtenances; excavation, shoring/bracing, bedding, backfill, and compaction; and restoration. Water line construction shall follow applicable standard specifications/details and manufacturer/AWWA installation recommendations and per the 2025 Iowa SUDAS Specifications. For connections to existing treated water mains, coordinate shutdown procedures with the Contracting Agency, keep tie-in valves closed until disinfection/bacteriological testing is complete, and do not operate existing system valves (Agency personnel only). Demolition, restoration, and surface improvements required for installation of watermains and well shall be included in the scope of work. Work on the improvements shall commence after the execution of the project contract and approval of the contract and bond by the City Council, which is anticipated to be approved on March 16th, 2026. The Contractor shall host a pre-construction meeting prior to the beginning of construction. All work on the project, including final surface restoration, shall be completed by September 30th, 2026. Failure to complete the work under the specified schedule will result in liquidated damages in the amount of $500 per calendar day until the project is complete. BID SECURITY: Bid bond in the amount of five percent (5%) of the bid. Insurance, Performance, and Maintenance Bonds will be required by the successful bidder upon Award. PERFORMANCE AND MAINTENANCE BOND: Equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the contract price, said bond to be issued by a responsible surety approved by the City Council, and shall guarantee the prompt payment of all materials and labor, and also protect and save harmless the City from all claims and damages of any kind caused directly or indirectly by the operation of the contract, and shall also guarantee the maintenance of the improvement for a period of four (4) years from and after its completion and formal acceptance by the City. The City of Walcott reserves the right to reject any or all bids, to waive informalities, and to enter into such contract, or contracts, as it shall deem to be in the best interest of the City.
