To ensure the Province is in a constant state of preparedness regarding wildfire pre-suppression and suppression activities, the services of High Volume Sprinkler Systems may be required on an “as-needed” basis with no guarantees of work. Services may be required in various Forest Areas in Alberta, including but not limited to Calgary, Rocky Mountain House, Fort McMurray, Lac La Biche, Edson, Whitecourt, Peace River, Grande Prairie, Slave Lake, and High Level. Services may be provided for an undetermined length of time. Standard hours of operations at a wildfire are 14 consecutive hours (or less) in each day; this may be extended to include 24-hour operations as dictated by the fire environment and incident management. Up to 10 contracts may be awarded, with services being requested using three call down lists according to separate hose diameter sizes. Successful proponents will provide trained staff at their own expense and ensure all necessary personal protective equipment and supplies are provided. Once the need for services is identified, the call down list will be utilized, and the selected contractor will scout the mission to determine feasibility and requirements before deploying the system.
