To ensure the Province is in a constant state of preparedness for wildfire pre-suppression and suppression activities, High Volume Water Services may be required on an “as-needed” basis with no guarantees of work. Services may be required in various Forest Areas across Alberta, including Calgary, Rocky Mountain House, Fort McMurray, Lac La Biche, Edson, Whitecourt, Peace River, Grande Prairie, Slave Lake, and High Level. Services may be provided for an undetermined length of time. Standard hours of operation at a wildfire are 14 consecutive hours per day, but this may be extended to 24-hour operations as needed. Up to 10 contracts may be awarded, with services requested using three call down lists corresponding to hose diameter sizes (4 to 6 inch, over 6 to 10 inch, and over 10 inch). Successful proponents must provide trained staff and ensure all necessary personal protective equipment and supplies are provided at their expense. When required, a contractor will first send a representative to scout and determine feasibility and requirements. Upon approval, the contractor will deploy the High Volume Water System.
