This Scope of Work (SOW) outlines the construction and design requirements for the implementation of a zeroscape landscape within LMAD 1. The purpose of this project isto replace existing landscapes with a sustainable, low-water-use design that enhances visual appeal and reduces maintenance needs. The Contractor shall design, furnish, and install all materials necessary for a complete zeroscape retrofit, including irrigation modifications, decomposed granite, decorative rock, boulders, trees, shrubs, and landscape curbing. 2. Project Locations 1. Location 1: Bear Valley Road -- from Shooting Star Drive to the first driveway past Pluto Drive. Area: Approximately 4,296 square feet 2. Location 2: Bear Valley Road -- west of Del Taco to Jade Road. Area: Approximately 4,598 square feet 3. Scope of Work The Contractor shall design and implement a zeroscape landscape to replace existing vegetation behind the sidewalk within LMAD 1, creating an aesthetically pleasing and water-efficient environment. Design Criteria A. LMAD Areas o Accent Shrubs: o Provide ten (10) desert-tolerant shrubs per boulder location to be determined in the field. o Boulders: o Place accent boulders approximately every 30 feet; size 4-5 feet in diameter, or smaller, if necessary, based on field conditions. Boulder location to be determined in the field. o Ground Cover: o 75% decomposed granite location to be determined in the field. 25% decorative rock mix consisting of various sizes from 4-10 inches location to be determined in the field. 4. Construction Requirements The Contractor shall: o Remove all ornamental turf, vegetation, and existing trees. o Utilizing existing irrigation and backflow, install new irrigation pipe with one bubbler per plant in accordance with LMAD standard specifications. o Reduce overall water consumption and promote sustainable landscape practices. o Obtain all required permits from the Development and Engineering Departments. o Contact DigAlert prior to any excavation. o Be responsible for any utility damage caused during work. o Implement all traffic control o Submit a Traffic Control Plan (TCP) in accordance with CAMUTCD to the Engineering Department for approval prior to the start of work. o Dispose of all spoils at the Palmdale Yard. o Notify City staff of any exposed tree roots for inspection prior to installation of improvements. o Use on-site City irrigation systems for water needs as authorized. o Perform all work Monday through Friday (7am to 4pm). o Schedule planting of all materials according to appropriate seasonal timelines. o Provide rock samples and color options to the City for approval prior to installation. o Coordinate and schedule project inspections with the City's Public Works Department.
