(Council Priority) CIP/DID #327009-01 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The work generally consists of reconstruction and widening of Shaver Road NE from approximately 900 feet south of H Avenue NE to the south terminus, the addition of parking spaces and walkways to access the trail, associated storm sewer and structures, fire hydrant relocation, water and sewer service stubs, and restoration of disturbed grass areas located at Shaver Road NE from H Avenue to the south terminus. Bids are to be submitted on a Unit Price basis. Each bidder must provide bid security in the amount of five percent of the bid, in the form of a cashier's check, certified check, certified share draft, or bid bond as specified. The successful bidder must furnish a corporate surety bond for the faithful performance of the contract in an amount equal to one hundred percent of the contract amount. All contractors and subcontractors must perform pre-employment drug screening and have a drug and alcohol testing policy that meets the requirements of Iowa Code, submitting acknowledgement with their bid. Preference will be given to products and provisions grown and coal produced within the State of Iowa, and to Iowa domestic labor, as lawfully required. The City Council reserves the right to reject any and all bids, to waive informalities and technicalities, and to defer acceptance of any proposal for 60 calendar days after the bids have been received and opened.
