Site work for a sidewalk / parking lot in Alexander City, Alabama. Completed plans call for site work for a sidewalk / parking lot.
A. Project Location Bill Nichols State Veterans Home, 1784 Elkahatchee Rd., Alexander City, AL 35010 B. The project consists of work described in contract documents. Work includes but is not limited to the demolition of the existing parking lot, repairing bad soil areas, installation of new asphalt and concrete paving, and related piping installation, and associated sitework activities. C. The scope of the work is as defined in the Contract Documents Prepared by SS&L Architects dated January 2026. D. Preparation: 1. Prior to Bid conduct a complete investigation of the existing project conditions to identify the areas of work, extent of work and considerations required to complete the work. a. No consideration will be given to claims based on a difference between actual and assumed conditions. 2. Take field measurements, verify field conditions and carefully compare such field measurements and conditions and other information known to the Contractor with the Contract Documents before bidding and commencing activities. 3. Review Architectural and Engineering Plans and Details. Sealed proposals will be received by The Alabama Department of Veterans Affairs at the Bill Nichols State Veterans Home for the Bill Nichols State Veterans Home Parking lot project. A cashier's check or bid bond payable to the Alabama Department of Veterans Affairs in an amount not less than five percent of the amount of the bid, but not more than $10,000, must accompany the bidder's proposal. Performance and Payment Bonds and evidence of insurance required in the bid documents will be required at the signing of the Contract. Drawings and specifications may be examined at the office of Seay, Seay and Litchfield, P.C. Electronic images of bid documents may be requested for a deposit of $0.00 through the Architect. These documents may be used only for the purpose of bidding and constructing this project. Anyone obtaining the plans and specifications directly from the Architect will be notified of all addenda by e-mail. The architect retains all copyrights and ownership of the documents. Bids must be submitted on proposal forms furnished by the Architect or copies thereof. All bidders bidding in amounts exceeding that established by the State Licensing Board for General Contractors must be licensed under the provisions of Title 34, Chapter 8, Code of Alabama, 1975, and must show evidence of license before bidding or bid will not be received or considered by the Architect; the bidder shall show such evidence by clearly displaying his or her current license number on the outside of the sealed envelope in which the proposal is delivered. The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all proposals and to waive technical errors if, in the Owner's judgment, the best interests of the Owner will thereby be promoted.
