Renovation of a theater / auditorium in Harlan, Iowa. Completed plans call for the renovation of a theater / auditorium.
Sealed bids will be accepted for a Single Prime Contract for the Harlan Veteran's Memorial Auditorium Acoustic Enhancement project in Harlan, Iowa. Each bid must be accompanied by a bid bond, certified check, cashier's check, or certified share draft in a separate sealed envelope marked "Bid Bond" or "Bid Security" equal to five percent (5%) of the total bid amount. The certified or cashier's check must be drawn on a bank or credit union in Iowa or chartered under U.S. law and be payable to the City of Harlan. The successful bidder must enter into a contract within ten (10) days of the Notice of Award and provide a satisfactory performance bond and a labor and material payment bond, each for one hundred percent (100%) of the contract sum, from a responsible surety approved by the Council. Bid security for the two lowest bidders will be retained until the contract is awarded and executed, but no longer than 30 days. No Bidder may withdraw their bid within 30 days after opening. The Council reserves the right to reject any and all proposals, to re-advertise for new bids, and to waive informalities in the best interest of the City. Plans and specifications are available for examination at the Architect's office as well as listed building exchanges. Monthly payments of ninety-five percent (95%) of the contract value of work completed will be made as work progresses, with final payment after satisfactory completion and acceptance by the Council and evidence that all claims have been paid in full.
