The general nature of the work is as follows: The project sites are located at Maple Grove Elementary,1455 98th St., West Des Moines, IA, and at Waukee Elementary, 850 6th St., Waukee, IA. Project includes the removal of approximately 21,800 SF of playground surfacing and the removal of playground equipment. Includes the installation of approximately 21,800 SF of turf playground surfacing, playground equipment, 250 LF of subdrain, sodding and other work. The project involves improvements at two elementary school playgrounds, located at Maple Grove Elementary and Waukee Elementary. The work includes the removal of approximately 21,800 square feet of playground surfacing and playground equipment, and the installation of about 21,800 square feet of turf playground surfacing, new playground equipment, 250 linear feet of subdrain, sodding, and additional related work. Bidders must submit sealed lump sum bids accompanied by a bid security equal to 5% of the bid amount. Bid security must be in the form of a cashier's or certified check, a certified bank share draft, or a bid bond with satisfactory corporate surety. Bidders must also provide a statement regarding their residency status as required. The successful bidder will be required to furnish a performance bond and payment bond for 100% of the contract amount. Contractors are not to include sales tax in their bids, as exemption certificates will be issued for building materials, supplies, and equipment. The owner reserves the right to accept or reject any or all bids and to waive informalities in bidding. Preference will be given to products, provisions, and labor from Iowa, as required by law.
