Kennedy Park secures final funding for pool, athletic courts upgrades SOUTH BEND — Located on Olive and Westmoor streets, Kennedy Park is getting major improvements, including a new pool, playground and athletic courts following the closure of the park’s current playground after being deemed outdated. Public Works Director of Project Management Patrick Sherman said many factors contributed to the need for park upgrades and asked the city’s Redevelopment Commission for $1.5 million from the city’s River West Development Area TIF to supplement the renovations. All six commissioners voted March 26 in favor of the funding. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The work consists of demolition and new construction for pool, Aquatics facility to include concessions, ticket window, restrooms, showers, and mechanical room; trails, landscaping, parking lot with underground detention, and site furnishings.
