Services shall be performed at the Petersburg Public Library, including the lobby, arctic entry, restrooms, teen room, children’s room, meeting rooms, staff areas, offices, circulation desk, stack areas, and archive room. Cleaning shall be performed on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, beginning one hour after closing and completed prior to 7:00 a.m. the following morning. The Contractor is responsible for securing the building upon completion of services and is expected to provide consistent and reliable service throughout the term of the contract, with advance notice and coordination with the Library Director in the event of absence. The Contractor shall notify the Library Director of any observed safety concerns or unusual conditions within the facility. Regular services include emptying interior and exterior waste/recycling receptacles, sweeping and mopping hard surfaces, vacuuming carpets, spot cleaning, cleaning and disinfecting restrooms, refilling paper and soap products, cleaning kitchenettes, wiping exposed work surfaces, spot cleaning glass and doors, and removing cobwebs. Quarterly services include washing interior windows, cleaning display cases, blinds, or curtains, wiping and removing marks from walls and baseboards, dusting window sills and top shelving, cleaning handrails, and vacuuming under movable furniture. Full carpet extraction or deep steam cleaning services are not included unless separately negotiated. The Library will provide toilet tissue, hand soap, dispenser paper towels, and garbage bags. The Contractor shall provide all other cleaning supplies, tools, equipment, and cleaning chemicals and must store supplies in the designated janitor’s closet in a safe and orderly manner with proper labeling and safety data sheets available. The anticipated start date is April 1, 2026. Proposals must include a name and contact information, a brief description of relevant cleaning experience, at least two references, a proposed annual contract amount, and indication of ability to meet insurance requirements. The contractor must provide General Liability Insurance with a minimum combined limit of $2,000,000 with Petersburg Borough listed as additional insured and Workers’ Compensation coverage as required by Alaska law. Proof of insurance is required prior to beginning work. The Borough reserves the right to reject any or all proposals.
