In general, the work consists of: replacement of the cooling tower that serves the chilled water system at Holden Fine Arts with a new unit that has adequate capacity. This new unit will include ladder and access platforms to make maintenance activities easier and safer. The tower will include variable speed air fans to increase overall efficiency. Tower support concrete beams will be replaced to replace the deteriorating support piers. The building automation system that exists at Holden will be extended to operate the new cooling tower. The existing chilled water pumps will be replaced with new pumps and variable speed drives. Minor chilled water piping modifications indoors will allow for proper operation of the chilled water system as primary-secondary. A variable frequency drive will be retrofitted to the existing condenser water pump to save energy.
