The City of Vernon is requesting proposals from contractors to perform an In-Line Inspection (ILI or pigging) on its high-pressure natural gas transmission line. The scope includes re-assessing the integrity of the ten-inch natural gas transmission line, with a length of 4.1 miles, mostly located under city streets. The section to be pigged has about 20 buried ells, with radii exceeding the minimum requirements for most inspection instruments. The City will have launcher and receiver equipment assembled and ready for operation. Natural gas will be supplied at 300 to 400 psig to propel the inspection pigs, with differential pressure controlled via upstream and downstream valves, and drive gas diverted through the receiver into the gas distribution system.
