Major unit overhaul and runner replacement of Turbine Unit 3: disassemble all major components of the turbine and generator for cleaning, inspection, replacement, rehabilitation or overhaul as specified, reassembly, realignment, start-up and commissioning. The Cobble Mountain Hydropower Station, constructed circa 1930, is currently operated by Holyoke Gas and Electric (HG&E) on behalf of the facility Owner, Springfield Water and Sewer Commission (SWSC). The project is comprised of the Cobble Mountain Dam and reservoir, intake works, 7,000 feet of concrete and steel-lined tunnel, surge tank and valve house, three steel penstocks each measuring approximately 1,000 feet long, a powerhouse with three vertical Francis-type hydroelectric generating units, and substation.
