The Town of Amherst is seeking proposals from qualified firms for the design and construction of an inclusive and accessible playground at Beacon Street Park in Amherst, Nova Scotia. The proposed playground will be the centerpiece of Beacon Street Park. The design must create a fully accessible and inclusive play environment for children and families of all abilities, encouraging social interaction, physical activity, and imaginative play. The project design is to be guided by the Town's Accessible Playground Concept Plan (Phases 1 and 2 only), attached as Appendix "A" and aims to remove barriers that often prevent children with disabilities from fully participating in play opportunities. The accessible design must ensure equitable entry, movement, and engagement within the space. The successful proponent will be responsible for the demolition and removal of the existing play structure, and the design, supply, and installation of the playground and associated features as a complete, turn-key, design-build project.
