Demolition and site preparation of existing materials, followed by installation of a 2,016 square foot reinforced concrete slab. Furnish and install a prefabricated shipping container roof structure. Sealed bids will be accepted at the Business Office of the Assabet Valley Regional Vocational School District until the specified deadline. The Assabet Valley RVSD School Committee reserves the right to reject any and all bids. Section 1 - Site Preparation & Concrete Work The Contractor shall remove the existing shed and all associated debris, placing materials in the Ownersupplied dumpster. All existing concrete slab, asphalt, loam, stump, and soil shall be removed and disposed of off-site. The Contractor shall then excavate a haunch approximately 3 feet wide and 2 feet deep around the full perimeter of the building footprint, along with two (2) parallel internal haunches, each 2 feet wide, 2 feet deep, and 40 feet in length, within an overall excavation area of 42 feet by 48 feet. Following excavation, the Contractor shall supply, install, and compact 12 inches of processed gravel across the entire floor area, followed by fine grading and compaction of the subbase. All surplus materials generated by the Contractor shall be disposed of off-site. The Contractor shall then install approximately 2,016 square feet of 6-inch-thick concrete slab reinforced with fiber mesh, with a 2-foot by 2-foot haunched perimeter edge for frost protection. Concrete shall achieve a minimum compressive strength of 3,000 PSI at 28 days. Saw-cut expansion and contraction joints shall be placed on an approximate 20-foot by 20-foot grid to minimize cracking and differential settlement. The finished slab shall receive a steel trowel finish and one (1) coat of liquid curing and sealing compound. Section 2 - Structure & Enclosure The Contractor shall furnish and install one (1) Shipping Container Roof Kit measuring 46 feet wide by 40 feet long by 21 feet 5 inches in height, spanning two (2) 40-foot shipping containers and providing 30 feet by 40 feet of usable open space with a minimum clear ceiling height of 16 feet 6 inches. The pitched roof system shall be engineered and rated for applicable snow and wind loads per the requirements of Marlborough, Massachusetts. At the front elevation, the Contractor shall frame and provide an opening sized to accommodate an 18- to 20-foot wide by 12- to 14-foot high roll-up door to allow access for lumber and fork lifts. A minimum 36-inch by 80-inch framed walk-in door opening shall also be provided at the front to allow pedestrian access independent of the larger door. The rear wall shall be fully enclosed with high-quality metal sheeting, providing complete coverage and weather protection. RULE FOR AWARD 1. The award will go to the responsible and responsive vendor offering the best price to the District, and including research and analysis of provided references for similar work, an evaluation of stated warranty terms, and satisfactory completion of the Company Identification, Experience, and List of References Form (Appendix A), the Certificate of Non-Collusion (Appendix B), the State Tax Certificate of Compliance (Appendix C), and the Proposal Response Form (Appendix D).
