The project consists of repairs to the Drainage District No. 4 open ditch system in Hamilton County, Iowa. Work includes excavating 50,800 cubic yards of silt from 244 stations of the open ditch, installing new tile and surface drain pipes, and cleaning out road and railroad culverts along the route. The project requires all labor, equipment, materials, and incidental items necessary to complete the work in accordance with the plans and specifications. 250th St & Saratoga Ave, Blairsburg, IA 50034 Instructions to bidders: - Sealed bids must be submitted before the specified deadline. - Bid security in the amount of 5% of the total bid is required, in the form of a cashier's check, certified check, certified share draft, or bid bond. - All bidders must be registered with the Iowa Division of Labor Services prior to contract award and must submit a completed State of Iowa Bidder Status Form with the proposal. Out-of-state bidders must comply with additional Iowa requirements. - Preference is given to domestic construction materials, Iowa products, and labor, as required by law. - The bidder shall not include Iowa sales tax in the bid. Tax exemption certificates will be issued for construction materials purchased for this project. - Work must commence upon contract approval and written Notice to Proceed, and must be fully completed by the date specified. Liquidated damages of $500 per calendar day will be charged for late completion. - Progress payments will be made for 90% of completed work, with 10% retained until final acceptance. Final payment is subject to completion, acceptance, and statutory requirements. - The successful bidder must provide a combined performance, payment, and maintenance bond equal to 100% of the contract price, guaranteeing faithful performance, payment for labor and materials, and maintenance for one year from final acceptance.
