Site work, paving and addition to a mixed-use development in Iowa City, Iowa. Completed plans call civil work for an educational facility and sidewalk / parking lot.

This project consists of the expansion of Surface Lot 9 West at the University of Iowa campus in Iowa City. Project Location: Work shall be performed under this Contract on the campus of the University of Iowa at Surface Lot 9, 217 N Clinton St, Iowa City, IA. a. Part A: Expanding the existing parking lot from 24 stalls to 40 stalls. The existing colored, striped concrete pavement on the east portion of the site will remain in place. The parking lot expansion will occur west of the existing stalls and will require removal of the existing porous paver system in that area. The existing stairs along the west side of the project area will be removed and replaced with a new PCC retaining wall. A smaller concrete stair will be constructed to maintain pedestrian access. The new parking area will be paved with Portland Cement Concrete (PCC). Work includes excavation, subgrade preparation, placement of 6” modified subbase, 6” PCC pavement, 5” PCC sidewalk, PCC retaining wall and stairs, planter drainage materials, galvanized pipe railing, pipe bollards, porous paver system removal, miscellaneous removals, 1 ¼” HDPE conduit (combination of open cut and directional drilled), camera pole, handhole, perimeter construction fencing, tree protection, pavement marking, SWPPP management, filter sock, stabilized construction entrance, and construction surveying. b. Part B: Utility Installation of storm sewer improvements. Work includes storm sewer abandonment, storm intake abandonment, storm intake removal, precast stormwater treatment structure with intake grate, perforated subdrain, and subdrain cleanouts.
