The Beaufort Housing Authority is pursuing a multi-phase redevelopment of its existing public housing portfolio in Beaufort, North Carolina, with an estimated total development cost of $20–$30 million. The project will replace ageing housing units with a mixed-income community comprising more than 300 residential units, including family rental housing, age-restricted senior housing, workforce housing, and affordable homeownership, along with a neighbourhood health clinic and community amenities. The authority has voted to enter negotiations with Pennrose Group as co-developer, with a phased master plan proposed and future approvals required prior to construction.
