Sealed proposals, in duplicate, from qualified general contractors will be received for the Reroofing of the Student Recreation Center for the University of North Alabama. Bids not presented at the opening, even if mailed, are non-responsive. Contractors must notify if sending a bid by mail. A mandatory pre-bid meeting must be attended by all contractors wishing to submit a bid. A cashier's check or bid bond payable to the University of North Alabama in an amount not less than five percent of the proposal, but no more than $10,000, must accompany each proposal. Performance and payment bonds, along with proof of insurance, are required at contract signing. Prior to receiving plans and specifications, contractors must provide evidence of proper licensing for the project classification. Digital drawings and specifications are available from the Architect upon application. Hard copies may be purchased. Only those on the Official Bidders List, having received documents from the Architect, will receive addenda and proposal information. Bids from contractors not on this list may not be accepted. Bids must be submitted on forms provided by the Architect. Bidders exceeding state licensing thresholds must have a valid license under Alabama law, and the license number must be displayed on the outside of the sealed bid envelope or the bid will not be considered. The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all proposals and to waive technical errors if considered in the Owner's best interests.
