Site work, paving and new construction of a civil project in Somerset, Pennsylvania. Conceptual plans call for the construction of a bridge / tunnel; and for paving for a road / highway.

The project proposes a major realignment of the Pennsylvania Turnpike at Allegheny Mountain, replacing the aging twin-tube Allegheny Mountain Tunnel with a large open-cut roadway through the ridge. The scope includes blasting a cut approximately 1,000 feet wide and up to 250 feet deep, constructing new highway approaches on both sides, and delivering a seven-lane roadway designed to improve safety, accommodate higher traffic volumes, and allow hazardous material transport that is currently restricted from the tunnel.
