Renovation of an educational facility in Opp, Alabama. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.
The project includes comprehensive renovation of the Lurleen B. Wallace Community College Welding Building D, approximately 17,000 square feet. The work consists of a complete interior demolition and renovation, replacement of all exterior openings, site improvements, and full replacement of building systems including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and technology. Bids must be submitted on proposal forms provided by the Architect or copies thereof. All prequalified bidders must be licensed under Title 34, Chapter 8, Code of Alabama, 1975, as amended, and must display their current license number on the outside of the sealed envelope and on the Proposal Form. No bid may be withdrawn for a period of sixty days after the scheduled closing time for receipt of bids. A mandatory pre-bid conference will be held for all pre-qualified bidders intending to submit a proposal. Attendance at the pre-bid conference is mandatory for all pre-qualified bidders and highly recommended for all subcontractors. Bids from prequalified general contractor bidders who do not attend the mandatory pre-bid conference will be rejected. The project is being bid excluding taxes, and the contractor must comply with the requirements of Act 2013-205 and account for the tax savings on the Proposal Form. The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all proposals and waive technical errors if deemed in the Owner’s best interest. Additional qualifications and requirements for general contractor bidders and separate subcontractors are indicated in the bid and contract documents. Pre-qualification requirements: Prequalification proposals must be submitted electronically. Prequalification proposal requirements may be obtained from the Architect by request. Only prequalified general contractors may submit sealed proposals for bidding. General contractor bidders bidding in amounts exceeding the limits established by the State Licensing Board for General Contractors must be licensed under Alabama law and show proof of license prior to bidding. Attendance at the mandatory pre-bid conference is required for all pre-qualified bidders intending to submit a proposal.
