The Board of Education of the Walled Lake Consolidated School District will receive firm prime contractor bids for asbestos abatement prior to renovations at Walled Lake Western High School. The project consists of removing and disposing of asbestos floor tile, asbestos floor tile mastic, non-asbestos carpet, interior door/window frame with asbestos glazing, asbestos lab counter tops, exterior/interior window frame with asbestos caulk, sinks with asbestos undercoating, asbestos thermal system insulation, tagged fire doors, and tagged fire door frames materials. Each proposal must be submitted in duplicate on forms furnished by the architect, sealed in an opaque envelope, and marked with the bidder's name and project name. A bid bond executed by a Treasury listed surety company or a cashier's check in the amount of at least 5% of the proposal is required with each proposal over $30,321. Bids shall be firm for sixty (60) days. Successful bidders with proposals of $50,000 or more will be required to provide a satisfactory Performance and Payment Bond in the amount of 100% of their bid, included in the proposal cost. Bids must include a sworn and notarized statement disclosing any familial relationship between the owner or any employee of the bidder and any member of the board or superintendent, and a sworn and notarized Iran Economic Sanctions Act Affidavit of Compliance. Bids not accompanied by these statements will not be accepted. The Board of Education reserves the right to reject any and/or all bids, waive any informality or irregularity, or award the contract to other than the low bidder at its sole discretion.
