Demolition, site work and new construction of a mixed-use development in Meriden, Connecticut. Completed plans call for the demolition of a 97,100-square-foot, two-story above grade educational facility; and 97,100-square-foot, two-story above grade educational facility.
The City of Meriden is seeking qualifications and proposals from qualified firms to provide comprehensive project management and owner's representative services for the planning, design, construction, and closeout of a new Casimir Pulaski Elementary School and its grounds at 1 King Place, Meriden, Connecticut. The selected firm will assist in developing a safe, modern, code-compliant educational facility that supports current instructional strategies, technology upgrades, energy efficiency, ADA accessibility, and school safety. The project includes environmental cleanup, demolition of the former Meriden Wallingford Hospital building, and construction of a new two-story school for grades pre-kindergarten through fifth, including the District's STARS special education program. Key elements involve flexible learning spaces, a gymnasium with a stage, and varied ADA-compliant outdoor play areas. The project may integrate sustainable features such as geothermal systems and solar panels. The City will also procure additional services from design professionals, commissioning agents, and other specialists as needed. Further, the project will be partially funded through a state grant, and executed via a construction manager at-risk (CMR) delivery method.
