The outreach event will address two potential contract actions for the Guajataca Dam Permanent Repair Project, focusing on industry feedback for complex dam rehabilitation involving deep soil mixing (DSM), deep mixing methods (DMM), and other innovative ground improvement techniques. The early work effort includes utility relocations (electrical, telecommunications, water, and sewer), demolition and relocation of administrative facilities, development of traffic detour plans, and construction of a left abutment water supply siphon system along with associated incidental work. Work affecting public roads and utilities must comply with Puerto Rico Highway and Transportation Authority standards. The permanent repair project involves major construction activities to address critical structural and geotechnical risks, including embankment instability, karst voids, transverse cracking due to seismic loading, seepage and erosion concerns, and spillway overtopping. Key elements include installation of vertical cutoff walls through a very soft clay core, stabilization of embankments, integration with existing structures such as tunnels and key walls, and construction of filter berms and stabilization buttresses under challenging geologic and geometric conditions. The project will require specialized construction methods, complex logistics on the dam crest, and advanced engineering approaches to ensure long-term dam safety and performance. Location: 355 F.D.
