Demolition and site work for a multi-residential development in Auburn, Maine. Conceptual plans call for the demolition of a multi-residential development; and for site work for a multi-residential development.

The City of Auburn is accepting written proposals for the Demolition of 7 Chestnut Street down to the top of slab. The City reserves the right to accept or reject any or all proposals in whole or in part and to waive any informality the City may determine necessary. The City also reserves the exclusive right to accept any proposal when it is deemed by the City to be in its best interest. The City of Auburn is governed by Title 1 M.R.S.A. 401-410, otherwise known as the Freedom of Information Act, which considers bid specifications as public documents. In awarding any proposal, the City may consider, but not be limited to, any of the following factors: Bidder qualifications, price, experience, financial standing with the City, warranties, references, bonding, delivery date, and service of Bidder. Vendors/Contractors shall be current on all amounts due to the City of Auburn prior to the City entering into any contract agreement. The bidders shall not have any existing land use violations within the City. The work includes the removal of all scrap, hazardous materials (contained fluids, CFL lights other debris, etc.), refuse, and debris located on the property and the demolition of the Multi-Family Structure, of 10,000+/- SF along with contents thereof located at 7 Chestnut Street. The cleanup is limited to all materials above the ground and does not include the slab, foundation and does not include testing of soils or excavation of soils. Additional information is included: Exhibit A photos and Exhibit B HazMat information to be provided as addendum. The CONTRACTOR shall remove and properly dispose of hazardous material from 7 Chestnut Street at their expense with a licensed disposal contractor. If hazardous materials are identified during demolition the contractor should consult with the City on a disposal plan as needed. All work must be completed from 7:00AM to 7:00PM. A contract shall be executed by March 6th, 2025 and the completion date for this project is April 21, 2025. Liquidated damages of $500/calendar day will be assessed on uncompleted work. First Pay requisition by March 7th, 2025. Questions Due: Monday, February 24, 2025 Questions regarding this project should be directed to John Blais, Deputy Director of Public Services via email jblais@auburnmaine.gov Bonds, Retainage and Payments A bid bond shall be submitted with appropriate bid forms in the amount of 10% of the total contract value. Also, payment and performance bonds will be required from the contractor who is awarded this contract. Retainage in the amount of 10% will be held from each progress payment and shall be released at the discretion of the Project Manager. Payments shall be made by the City to the Contractor 30 days after receipt of the request for payment. The City of Auburn reserves the right to waive any formality and technicality in bids whichever is deemed best for the interest of the City of Auburn.
