The purpose of the P1080 Power Reliability and Water Resiliency Upgrades project is to provide increased reliability, resiliency and capacity to the existing electric and water utility systems primarily responsible for the protection of nuclear-powered submarines and nuclear support facilities at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard (PNSY). It also provides improvements at the water treatment plant and water lines within the Town of Kittery in partnership with the Kittery Water District (KWD), transmission lines and new transformer in partnership with Central Maine Power (CMP), and water and power improvements within the facility boundary. The P1080 project includes the following major components: The Power reliability and water resiliency project provides increased reliability, resiliency, and capacity to the existing electric and water utility systems primarily responsible for the protection of nuclear-powered submarines and nuclear support facilities at PNSY. In order to support this on-base effort, there are two off-base private utility projects which are currently in design phase and will be needed to ultimately connect with the on-base work. Off-Base Electrical: Provides modifications to the commercial power supply provided by Central Maine Power (CMP) to PNSY.
