The Town of Limestone is seeking bids for the provision of sand for the 2023/2024 winter season. All bids are subject to the following conditions: The Town estimates that it will purchase up to 1,000 yards of sand or crusher dust to be used for winter sanding of roadways. The Aggregate shall be clean sand of hard, durable, sharp-grained particles free from vegetation or organic matter, lumps or balls of clay or other deleterious substances. Maximum size of 1/2 inch, with gradations of 100% passing 1/2 inch sieve, 80-100% passing a #4 sieve, 0-35% passing a #50 sieve, 0 to 5% passing a #200 sieve. The winning bid will be tested for gradation by S. W. Cole Engineering, Inc. prior to acceptance. The product will be delivered by weight and will be randomly checked daily for quality and weight, using scales as directed by the town, at town expense; average weight of a cubic yard of sand or crushed dust being 2700 pounds. Deliveries will be discontinued for rain or excessively wet material. The Town reserves the right to adjust the amount of purchased materials to meet its actual needs. All bids shall be stated based on U.S. funds based on a per yard basis. Payment will be made on actual product purchased. All bids will shall be for the duration of the fiscal year. Price shall include delivery to Town of Limestone Highway garage. Delivery schedule will be coordinated with the Public Works Department for delivery no later than September 30, 2023. The Town reserves the right to accept or reject any or all bids and waive any formalities/informalities/technicalities, and to award bids as they deem in the best interest of the Town. Bids received after the deadline will not be accepted. All bids must be valid for 90 days from the deadline of submission, and cannot be withdrawn for this period.
